Released hp3900-series 0.12

hp3970I've released a new version of hp3900-series because there are some important changes and fixes that I've notified before. This version supports a new scanner (HP ScanJet G2710), I've solved a problem related to grayscale emulation and made some improvements in compile and install scripts which complain in machines supporting 64-bit architecture.

HP ScanJet G2710 supported in GNU/Linux

L2696AI've added support for a new scanner in GNU/Linux, HP ScanJet G2710 (HPG2710). Basically it's similar to HP ScanJet 3800 (HP3800) already supported by hp3900-series backend so it has been easy to make work this new device.

hp3900-series backend included in SANE

saneGood news for GNU/Linux users using scanners supported by hp3900-series backend. Since this month I'm a SANE project collaborator, and I've included hp3900 backend in SANE project's CVS server because in my opinion, backend is stable enough to be published officially.

hp3970There is a new version available about hp3900-series (0.10). Due to some chipsets don't implement an eeprom, backend now checks whether chipset supports operations with such memory. Those people who use to work with stand-alone application, can use a simple GUI (hp3900.kmdr). This version emulates white shading correction so images should have better quality.

Released hp3900-series 0.9

There is available to download a new version of hp3900-series project. This version supports HP Scanjet G3010 scanner and adds initialy support to BenQ 5550T scanner (There are some problems setting up stepper motor for this scanner which uses RTS8823L-01E chipset).

It fixes an already commented bug that affected stepper motor programming, it implements code to improve read/write operations in RAM memory  and lets to detect installed RAM type.

Fixed bug in hp3900-series 0.8

Due to important changes in hp3900-series version 0.8 related to stepper motor programing, there is a bug in a process called backtracking. Backtracking happens when buffer is full during scanning. Sensor stops, goes back some distance (backtracking) and waits for buffer to be transferred to computer to continue scanning. In version 0.8, due to backtracking is lower than expected, sensor goes beyond the physical limit.
